Ours is not a 'plastic palace' of a hotel. Rooms at the Red Lyon are individual, comfortable, clean and homely.

All of the bedrooms are on the first floor. As the building dates back to at least the 16th Century, such things as lifts were not allowed for in the master plans - so please contact us if you have limited mobility (The rooms can only be reached by fairly narrow stairways).

We have just four guest rooms. Guests have their own keys for 'out-of-hours' access to the accommodation, and their own entrance to the bar and restaurant during opening times.

As many of our guests are travelling on business, our room rates are based on 'room only', with breakfast as an optional extra. Breakfast is served in the restaurant from 7am to 9am every day. See our breakfast menu

Terms and conditions for guest room bookings

These terms and conditions apply to all guest room bookings and lettings.

Securing your booking
All reservations, room lettings and late arrivals are secured and guaranteed by a credit card, details of which are taken at the time of the initial reservation.

"No shows" and failure to arrive
Failure to arrive will result in a no show charge being charged to your credit card up to the full rate of the room booked.

Cancellations
Booking cancellations or material changes to reservation details MUST be confirmed in writing (by letter, by email or by fax). We require notice of cancellations or changes as follows:

• Bookings for one room: 48 hours
• Bookings for two or more rooms: 96 hours

It is not sufficient to cancel the booking by telephone - this will NOT be deemed a valid cancellation.

Every effort will be made to re-let any cancelled rooms. However, if we are unable to re-let any room, we will charge the total cost of the booking. If we are able to re-let the room we may, at our sole discretion, charge any shortfall in letting charge against the original booking.

Check-in and check-out
Rooms should be vacated by 11am on the day of departure.
Rooms may be occupied from 2pm on the day of arrival. Please note that the pub is usually closed between 3pm and 5pm, Monday to Thursday inclusive.
